ATLANTIC Class AT/B Tug SEA EAGLE
1997
Full contract design of the new tug 5,800 BHP SEA EAGLE, built at Halter Moss Point Marine, designed with a Bludworth-type connection system, mated to the earlier-built ocean double hull chemical barge, TMI 80.
The SEA EAGLE is a 124’ AT/B tug designed around the Bludworth type connection. Designed to fit an existing barge notch, the tug features both lower and upper pilothouses and has a towing winch for use when pushing is not possible. However, like most Bludworth type-boats, she has pushed nearly 100% of the time.

The tug is currently operating between the Gulf and East Coasts with an 80,000 barrel chemical barge. She is owned by Allied Transportation, of Norfolk, VA and was built by Halter Marine Group, at Moss Point Marine. She has spacious accommodations and is “SOLAS-Ready”. Power comes from two ALCO 16-251 main engines turning Reintjes gears. Propellers are of Bird-Johnson’s “New Generation” skewed design. The tug also has a fully enclosed below-deck control room, spacious quarters, and a high degree of outfitting. She admeasures under 200 GRT Domestic. Allied also operates an OT&BE-designed tug built at Alabama Shipyard: the SEAHAWK.
