Welcome
to the new and updated Internet home of the worlds' most experienced
designers of large articulated tug/barge systems. This web site
is designed around you, the client - current or potential. It will not
only be a showcase of our work, but it will also help educate potential
clients on all aspects of ATB TM design, construction, and operation. The site is set up in five parts, as shown above. Clicking on any of the links will allow you to view the images and text for that particular topic. Under "GENERAL INFORMATION," you'll find some very basic information about the articulated tug and barge, and how the ATB works. There is information about the major connection systems, links to the manufacturers site, and a description of how the tug and barge connection works. We also have comments that come from our own experience with the product, or if we have no experience, our observations from a distance. Under the various "NEW CONSTRUCTION" headings, you'll find specification sheets and pictures of the tugs and barges we have designed new, as well as those of CT Marine, with whom we work as a team. They are broken down by the type of connection system employed. The "AT/B" APPLICATION ENGINEERING" headings cover the tugs and barges for whom OT&BE was the prime contractor in design of either the engineering and refit of a connection system, or the installation engineering for a new building designed by others, with OT&BE providing the ATB expertise and drawings, stability studies, model testing, FEA, etc. These too, are broken down by the type of connection involved. We have also created a tugboat and barge photo gallery, for those of you who simply enjoy tugs for what they are. This gallery consists of tugs and barges from all designers, and builders. They span a time frame from the early 1900's to the present, from the Great Lakes, to the Rivers, to the Coasts and Deep Ocean. We cover towboats, and inland barges as well. I elected not to go into the description of each vessel, but rather to just leave the pictures with a name where possible, purely for the enjoyment of the visitor. You are encouraged as well, to submit pictures to us for publication. This offer is open to all tug fans, designers, shipyards and operators. Proper credit will always be given for photos submitted by others. Simply use the e-mail address on this page to submit photos. The next part of the site is our useful links page. At one time we had quite a list, but we have since limited it to the best sites we could find that covered the tug and barge industry. We welcome link exchanges with those who would like their site posted on ours and vice-versa. Simply use the e-mail address on this page to send us your URL. The final part of the site, is - of all things - railroad related. We host the Internet home of the PROVIDENCE MODEL RAILROAD CLUB, from Providence, RI. I am a member of that club, and as you might expect, the layout features more than a few items related to the tug and barge industry as a result. If you enjoy museum-quality industrial modeling, combining the best in heavy transport - rail and sea - please visit the site. You won't be disappointed with what you find there. |
